The latest innovative product from Pool Controls operates on extra-low salt concentrations (as low as 1200ppm).
At this concentration, the salt is on the threshold of being perceptible by taste - so it’s like swimming in freshwater!
Seawater has a salt concentration of around 30,000ppm and a human tear drop has a salt concentration of approximately 7000ppm. Conventional saltwater chlorinators operate at concentrations of between 3000 and 6000ppm. The XLS System works effectively at concentrations as low as 1200ppm – and it’s worth remembering that tap water often has salt concentrations of around 200ppm.
When you backwash your pool or spa, you won’t be dumping large amounts of salty water. Extra low concentrations of salt also help protect your investment in your pool or spa. Metal accessories will no longer rust quickly and concrete surfaces are protected from the hardening that can occur with high concentrations of salt. High salt concentrations can be extremely harsh on pool surrounds – but this sort of damage can be prevented by using an XLS System.

Better - A “better” option is the “T” model, which includes two additional timed power outlets to control pool accessories such as pool or garden lighting.
Best - The “best” option is provided by the “pH” model, which includes an integrated algorithmic pH Control system in addition to the , offering pool owners full functionality in one unit. Note that a separate pH Control system can be retro-fitted to any XLS system at a later date if desired.
All XLS systems have a built-in “cover-mode”, which at the touch of a button, reduces chlorine output to 20% of normal for when a pool cover is on the pool.
